Job Title: Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead

Actual Annual Salary: £29,748 - £32,898 based on working weeks.

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £34,740 - £38,419 (CLF Grade E). Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.  

Contract Type: Permanent, Term time only (plus INSET days)

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Start date: June 2025 (Subject to completion of pre employment checks )

Your opportunity to support a busy North Somerset academy in ensuring safeguarding and child protection practices:

To be successful in the post, we are looking for a DDSL who will act as the main point of contact for safeguarding and child protection in line with statutory requirements. Working alongside an Assistant Principal, this opportunity will lead in facilitating the development of safeguarding policies, guidance, training, and procedures for the Academy. Evaluate training provided, ensure compliance, and ensure that safeguarding is embedded in the culture of the Academy.

About you:

You will have:

  • knowledge and understanding of current and national issues in relation to safeguarding. 
  • knowledge of legislation, guidance, and relevant research which inform safeguarding practices, including low level concerns
  • an understanding of best practice and current educational thinking specifically in the areas of SEMH, Trauma and ACEs
  • proven experience of working with children or young people.
  • ability to manage data management information systems i.e. CPOMs and spreadsheets and to analyse and evaluate a wide range of information
  • a commitment to improving the life chances of students

Safeguarding Statement:
