£3,824.94 - £4,004.54per annum
(Pro rata £18,870.00 - £19,756.00per annum)

We are currently recruiting for an animal management technician to join our friendly and professional team.
The role will involve attending to the general care of animals along with day-to-day husbandry duties. You will mainly be working unsupervised. You will also carry out on call duties on weekends, bank holidays and college closures but these are split between the technicians.
Working in conjunction with the current Animal technician you will supervisor a team of students of different abilities, you will play an integral role in ensuring that the Animal Discovery Centre is maintained to the highest levels.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum level 2 qualification in animal management/science or relevant industrial experience, along with a minimum of one year’s supervisory experience. Ideally with a keen interest and current experience and knowledge or reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and fish. As this would the area you would have overall responsibility for. A general knowledge of small mammal and birds with also be beneficial as you would be caring for these animals each day too.
This job requires regular heavy lifting of animal cages and water tanks. A good range of mobility is also required to be able to clean animal enclosures situated on various levels as well as handling animals.
A teaching qualification is not essential but the successful candidate should be willing to work towards the qualification.
