IT Support Engineer (2nd Line)  

Full-time (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) 

£25,006 to £27,148 per annum

At BCoT we aim to get qualified and skilled people in employment and higher education. A large part of that commitment focuses on our Learning Resources. Our IT systems ensure our learners and staff have available to them a high performance technology site that is robust and resilient.

This is an exciting new role and opportunity to become part of our expanding IT Support Team in a fast-paced and diverse environment. As the 2nd Line IT Support Engineer you will work with the 1st line team as an escalation point to ensure that IT systems are available to all students and staff to provide an excellent IT experience. You will also work sufficiently with the deployment of new equipment and systems as well as support all of BCoT’s sites both remotely and on premise.

What will you be doing?

Be an escalation point for calls that the 1st line team are unable to resolve before moving to 3rd line if required as well as provide guidance, on the job training and advice

Undertaking or creating software installations in addition to administrative functions as required such as audits and testing of systems

Providing assistance to all users in relation to basic computer operations and the core MS office applications. You will also provide prompt, effective and friendly assistance to all users of the college’s IT systems.

As the successful candidate you will:

• Hold a Full UK driving licence and own your own motorised transport

• Have knowledge in IT trouble shooting skills hardware and software as well as experience with Windows 10 and Office 2016/2019

• Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an IT support role on a 500+ PC network – Knowledge of Server 2012R2 and above would be desirable

• Possess and be able to demonstrate skills such as; good communication, customer service and focused, problem solving and interpersonal
