(PERMANENT) SEN TEACHER POST – Resource Provision Class (Required for 1st September 2024)

Salary: Up to £55 107 (based on proven experience in UK schools) plus £2600 SEN allowance

Total annual package (up to) £57 707

Due to expansion of provision, we are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to work within our Resource Provision Unit for pupils with ASD and Speech, Language & Communication Difficulties. You will teach a class of up to 15 pupils with a range of needs with a very supportive team of support staff as well as working collaboratively with 2 other experienced specialist teachers to resource and co-plan activities for learning that meet all needs and challenges learners to reach their potential. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed SEN teacher to join our ARP Team of 9 staff. Our most recent Ofsted report highlights the ‘Leaders make sure that all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), access the same rich curriculum. Pupils with more complex needs are very well supported.’

Beaconsfield Primary School is an over-subscribed, welcoming school with ‘outstanding pupil behaviour’ where pupils consistently exceed national averages for attainment and progress. We offer a very supportive environment for staff and pupils. Our ARP classes are housed in a modern, purpose-built facility with sensory and soft play rooms in addition to the large, low-arousal classrooms and separate outdoor play spaces. We have our own on-site speech & language therapist, counsellor & occupational therapist and a well-trained, highly committed team of specialist support staff.

We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational and highly effective practitioner who has:

  • Proven experience of teaching pupils with SEN and of delivering a personalised curriculum either in special or an additionally resourced provision setting.
  • Experience of teaching KS1 and KS2 pupils with SEN (ideally ASD/SLCN) in special or resourced provision in the UK including knowledge of ‘Engagement Model’ assessment framework
  • Knowledge of, or skills in using specialist communication systems e.g. Makaton, PECs etc.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment and passion for inclusive education along with the ability to use multiple strategies to maximise achievement and effectively manage a variety of pupil behaviours in a positive way.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility and a strong team-work focus approach.
  • QTS and (ideally) some further training linked to ASD, SEND, speech and language, Structured teaching (SPELL/TEACCH), Engagement model and
  • This role is NOT suitable for ECT/ NQT teachers with no prior experience.
