Hours: 12.5 hrs per week, 2.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday which can be completed before or after school
Rate of Pay: £12.26 per hour (actual salary £7370)
Neroche Primary school is looking for a cleaner who has the ability to self-motivate and clean to the high standards the school expects. The role involves cleaning toilets, emptying bins, mopping floors, wiping tables, hoovering, dusting, and general cleaning duties around the school site.
Main Purpose of Job
- To work as part of the Premises Team to assist in the cleaning of the premises within the school and maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of all areas, including classrooms, halls, corridors, toilets, offices as directed by the Cleaning Supervisor, Site Manager & Business Manager.
- When directed by the Site Manager or Cleaning Supervisor to support with the deep clean of areas.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
The duties of the post holder will usually include the following:
- To be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the school and for maintaining high and consistent standards of cleaning as part of the cleaning team.
- To use initiative to perform cleaning and tidying tasks that may require attention as part of maintaining overall standards.
- Comply with all aspects of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Food Safety Act 1990 and all other relevant legislation.
- To hold keys to the premises if required.
- To use cleaning materials as provided and also Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as instructed.
- To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, e.g., Vacuum cleaners and, occasionally, polishers.
- Duties to include the following: - Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors - cleaning toilets including tap fittings and surrounds etc.
- Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
- Sanitising, dusting, damp wiping, washing or polishing the furniture, ledges, windowsills and external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and filaments.
- Undertake inside windowpane cleaning, washing/polishing door glass and occasional wall washing.
- Emptying & cleaning waste bins
- Replenishing consumable items (sanitiser, soap, toilet rolls, paper towels) as required
- Checking and closing windows, switching off lights & un-setting / setting an alarm as directed
- As required, assist with deep cleaning of rooms
- Touch up paint within areas as required.
- Reporting defects / hazards as required to site team.
- Undertake training as required by the organisation i.e., Child Protection, health and safety, COSHH.
