Tiverton High School is seeking an exceptional Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to join our dedicated safeguarding team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, resilient and highly organised individual who is committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, supported and able to thrive. Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a central role in safeguarding across the school, supporting vulnerable students and their families, coordinating multi-agency work, and helping to foster a culture where wellbeing and safety are everyone's responsibility.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with vulnerable children, young people or families.
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with students, parents and external agencies.
  • Remains calm, professional and effective when dealing with complex and sensitive situations.
  • Has excellent communication, record-keeping and organisational skills.
  • Works proactively, using initiative while also contributing positively as part of a team.
  • Is passionate about safeguarding and making a lasting difference to young people's lives.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in implementing effective safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Monitor and manage safeguarding concerns and records through CPOMS.
  • Lead and oversee Early Help provision.
  • Work closely with pastoral, attendance, SEND and leadership teams to support vulnerable students.
  • Liaise with external agencies and attend multi-agency meetings.
  • Support staff training and contribute to the continuous development of safeguarding practice across the school.

Working pattern: 8am - 4pm, Monday - Friday, 39 weeks per year (term time + INSET days)
