Salary: £25,583 full time equivalent, actual salary £22,201 for term time only working

Contract Term: Permanent: Full time - 37 hours. Flexible working considered for the right candidate.

At Berkeley Green UTC, we don’t just support learning, we unlock potential. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, and that the right support at the right time can transform confidence, achievement, and future opportunities.

We are seeking an exceptional Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and fulfil their potential. This is an opportunity to work in a unique setting where students choose their educational pathway, where relationships are central to success, and where inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.

Why this role matters

Our students arrive with ambition and clear goals for their future. Some require additional support to help them develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, and independence needed to achieve those goals. They need a Learning Support Assistant who will advocate for them, encourage them, and work alongside them to ensure they can thrive.

You won't simply provide support; you will:

  • Champion the success and wellbeing of students with additional learning needs
  • Work alongside teachers to remove barriers to learning and achievement
  • Deliver effective one-to-one and small-group interventions
  • Develop students' confidence, independence, and self-belief
  • Support the development of literacy skills that enable students to access the wider curriculum
  • Help students achieve qualifications that open doors to future opportunities

What makes Berkeley Green UTC different

Step into our UTC and you'll notice something special immediately – a culture founded on professionalism, inclusion, and high expectations.

  • Students are respectful, motivated, and purposeful
  • Staff work collaboratively because every learner matters
  • Support is personalised, proactive, and centred on individual needs
  • Technical and academic education are valued equally
  • Students are preparing for careers in engineering, digital technologies, and cyber security
  • Relationships are strong because we know our students as individuals

This is a place where you can make a genuine difference every day, working closely with students, teachers, the SENDCo, pastoral colleagues, and families to help young people succeed.

The person we are looking for

We are looking for someone who:

  • Believes passionately in inclusive education and the potential of every young person
  • Is committed to supporting students with additional learning needs
  • Builds positive, productive relationships based on trust, respect, and encouragement
  • Works effectively with teachers and other professionals to support student progress
  • Can adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates initiative, resilience, and flexibility
  • Supports students in developing positive learning behaviours and independence
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Embraces collaboration and continuous professional development
