Governors seek to appoint a well-qualified, committed and enthusiastic teacher to join our excellent English department of 14 specialists. The department is highly achieving and very popular in the Sixth Form. This post is suitable both for newly/recently qualified teachers and those with experience, and we welcome applications from teachers interested in both a full time or part time position. St Thomas More is a large, highly successful academy, with an excellent reputation both locally and nationally. It serves the whole of North Tyneside and has a strong, genuinely comprehensive intake. It is part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust.


Job overview

The successful candidate will be a dedicated English teacher with the energy, enthusiasm and desire to inspire a love of English. They will be responsible for planning and delivering English lessons in line with department schemes of work, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained. They will work collaboratively with the English team and wider staff to sustain and raise the achievement of all students at St Thomas More.


Job requirements

Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent qualification

Relevant specialist qualifications and subject experience

Understanding of curriculum requirements for English and to plan and deliver high-quality Language and Literature lessons

Ability to understand and implement assessment methods to support progress

Enthusiasm and commitment to the English team
