TEACHER OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES

MATERNITY COVER - FIXED TERM CONTRACT

MPS/UPS

Required for 5th October 2026

Sacred Heart Catholic High School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and creative RS teacher to join a strong and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a highly successful school, once again graded outstanding in all areas (Ofsted January 2025). Sacred Heart is a popular and heavily oversubscribed school, with a long-standing reputation for academic excellence, exceptional pastoral care, and a commitment to developing the whole child.

The school’s mission is inspired by the vision of St Madeleine Sophie Barat, the foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart, who believed in the transformative power of education. Sacred Heart continues to uphold this philosophy by recognising the unique talents and gifts of each student and nurturing them within a supportive and ambitious environment.

The Local Governing Committee are committed to safeguarding and the protection of its pupils. The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS and social media check.

Sacred Heart Catholic High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In accordance with the safeguarding vulnerable groups’ regime [2006] & the relevant Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) DfE guidance, any offer of employment made will be conditional upon the results of checks from the Disclosure & Barring Service (“the DBS”) and Teacher Services (regarding teacher prohibition/disqualification from working with children and young people).

School roles give privileged access to vulnerable groups, therefore, we require all applicants attending interview to disclose all spent convictions and cautions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 unless it is a “protected” conviction/caution under the amendments made to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 (in 2013) and, therefore, not subject to disclosure.
