Blenheim High School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join our experienced and supportive SEND team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and wants to play a meaningful role in helping students with special educational needs and disabilities access the curriculum, develop their independence and achieve their potential.
Working closely with our SENDCo, Deputy SENDCo and teaching staff, you will provide academic, practical and emotional support to individuals and small groups of students. You will help create an inclusive and encouraging learning environment in which every student feels supported and able to succeed.
The role
The successful candidate will:
- Support individuals and small groups of students in lessons and through targeted interventions
- Help students access the curriculum by preparing and adapting learning materials
- Provide appropriate encouragement, reassurance and personal support
- Promote students’ confidence, independence and engagement in learning
- Monitor, assess and record students’ progress and the support provided
- Contribute to reviews and professional discussions about students’ needs and progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SEND team and other professionals
- Liaise with primary schools to support students’ transition into Year 7
- Assist with the supervision of students during break and lunchtime, when required
- Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students

- Experience of working in a school, teaching assistant, nursing, caring or welfare role would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and good ICT skills. Working arrangements
The role is for 30.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during term time for 37 weeks per year.
Normal working hours are 8:15am to 3:15pm, with a 4:15pm finish every other Wednesday to attend staff training.
