A warm welcome to Bond Primary School. Bond is a warm and friendly school; we have a strong sense of community in our setting – we want to be the best primary school in Mitcham! My team and I want to continue to nurture this across our school community, particularly with you as our parents and carers. It is important that our children see us working together to secure the best possible outcomes for them.
The governors and staff at Bond Primary School have worked incredibly hard to secure a Good Ofsted judgement, and we will continue to strive to build on this success. My team and I are committed to securing the best outcomes for all children within our school, valuing each child as an individual through our engaging and lively curriculum. We place the children at the centre of all decisions we make in order to promote a sense of pride and provide positive learning experiences for all children. We believe children learn best when they feel happy and safe and are not afraid to make mistakes.
We offer wonderful indoor and outdoor learning spaces including our Edible Garden and school library. We have received the Music Mark Award, the Healthy Schools Bronze award, Gold School Sports Games Award and Platinum School Sports Mark Award. We are incredibly proud of these achievements.
We hope that you will share in our successes and aspirations for Bond Primary and warmly welcome you to visit our school.

Bond Primary School
One of the most effective ways to encourage children to learn, behave well, respect and appreciate others and to aim for the highest academic standards for themselves is through praise, positive feedback and celebration of their successes. With this in mind, we hold weekly Celebration Assemblies every Thursday. Each teacher nominates one child / children who have made an outstanding achievement, in either academic or social terms and they receive a prize. Children are also rewarded for having the best ‘Learning Log of the Week’ in their class – in the older classes the children are nominated by their peers for this award. We are also a ‘You Can Do It school! Children are given certificates for displaying ‘Confidence’, ‘Persistence’, ‘Organisation’ and ‘Getting Along’ – these are all qualities which help to prepare them for their futures.
Promoting British Values
British values have been defined by the Department of Education (June 2014) as:
At Bond Primary School these values are taught explicitly through Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) and through Religious Education. We also teach British Values implicitly through the whole of our broad and balanced curriculum, regular assemblies, and by means of our whole school systems and structures. The school ethos at Bond is one of mutual tolerance and respect – visitors to our school have commented on the “happy and harmonious” atmosphere and the “strong spiritual, moral, social and cultural development” of our children. (Ofsted 2013)
Actively promoting British values also means challenging pupils, staff and parents to express their opinions openly and respectfully, to take part in our school celebrations and events and to comment on school life by means of feedback surveys and questionnaires.
