Cheltenham Bournside School has a fantastic opportunity to work in Gloucestershire’s largest comprehensive school.
We are an established 11-18 single academy trust with a good reputation (Ofsted ‘Good’ rating 2022), wide catchment, and a strong presence in our community. Our school is consistently oversubscribed with a PAN of 300, and most of our students choose to stay with us for their post-16 study.
We are delighted to be looking to appoint a Business Studies teacher. You will teach a variety of academic and vocational courses across Year 10 - 13, from Eduqas GCSE, and OCR L2 in Enterprise / Marketing at KS4 to Eduqas A-level Business and OCR L3 Business at KS5. The department is one of the most popular and oversubscribed areas of the school at both KS4 and KS5. We have made exciting progress in recent years, developing the department into a key and proud feature of the school and local community. The department prides itself on offering fun, engaging and memorable lessons, which challenge students’ deeper thinking and learning.
You will have a thirst for learning, a strong knowledge and understanding of Business and be willing to learn and adapt within a very supportive and happy team. You will be a passionate professional who wants to make a difference and help us drive the department forward. The department is passionate about developing student entrepreneurial skills and delivers many enterprise based learning opportunities: 10X Challenge, Student Investor Challenge and Sixth Form Young Enterprise, where we have won county awards. This year’s team have created a children’s book based on our two school dogs, called Molly and Lottie’s Forest Adventures. We plan a wide variety of annual trips and visits across all year groups within the department to contextualise student experiences and deeper learning. These include Cadbury, Mira Showers, Bank of England, China, New York and many more.
The post would be an ideal opportunity for a new entrant to the profession although equally attractive to a more experienced colleague. We have a positive commitment to supporting Early Career Teachers and a comprehensive staff development programme.
We are an equal opportunities employer and value and respect diversity across our whole school community. Bournside is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check. We reserve the right to interview and appoint prior to the closing date.
