We are looking for an Attendance Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT / Brakenhale School and become an integral member of the humanities team. We are an 11 to 18 school situated on the southern side of Bracknell town centre. We are a community school. Our commitment to high standards and outstanding teaching has led us to become the school of choice for families in Bracknell Forest. We are looking to hire an Attendance Officer to support our staff and students with the constant supervision of student attendance.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

● To line lead the Attendance Administrator

● Update the SIMS database with absence information from registers, voicemails, emails and text messages

● Communicate effectively with staff, visitors, parents and students

● Update Google sheets with absence information in detail

● Liaise with outside agencies for duel registered and alternative provision students/looked after children (LAC)

● Scan and file confidential paperwork in line with GDPR requirements

● Responsibility of running absence reports for Headteacher, SLT and parents as requested

● Responsibility for the ‘late desk’, communicating with staff, parents, students and logging accordingly

● Producing daily safeguarding lists to ensure the most vulnerable are monitored

● Organise, attend and participate in meeting with parents alongside Assistant Headteachers to discuss attendance and support individuals

● Organise, attend and participate in early intervention meetings to support students across the school with safeguarding, SEN, behaviour and/or attendance

● Home visits for non-school attendees, if applicable

● Being responsible for keeping up to date with the requirements of the role, by attending appropriate INSET and meetings, and keeping abreast of changes in legislation

● Develop and maintain working relationships with other staff – work effectively and in cooperation with all other staff in the school, using own knowledge and skills to contribute positively to the overall welfare of the school and its pupils

● Being aware of and complying with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities and race equality, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person

● Undertaking any other duties commensurate with the post as may be required by the Business Manager and Headteacher

● End of Day Checks to ensure no missing marks and they are correct and run Daily Year Group Report

● Deal with daily school refusers/SEN students needing support

● To deal with referrals for EWS and EBSA support.

● Attend bi-weekly meetings with AHOY’s

● Oversee students with adapted timetables

● Early intervention meeting with students and parents

● Deal with Leave of Absence requests and reply to parents accordingly

You will need:

● English and Mathematics to at least grade C GCSE

● Practical experience of word processing, excel, e-mail and other office electronic applications

● Experience of working in a school / office setting
