Lead Practitioner of English

Salary: Lead Practitioner Pay Range 1 - 4/ Main Pay Scale / UPS

Contractual hours: 32.5

Basis: Full Time

Start date: as soon as possible / 1st September 2024

We are looking for a Lead Practitioner of English. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT / Brakenhale School and become an integral member of the teaching staff. We are an 11 to 18 school situated on the southern side of Bracknell town centre. We are a community school. Our commitment to high standards and outstanding teaching has led us to become the school of choice for families in Bracknell Forest. You will also be joining a terrific team, emphasising the importance of cooperation and teamwork. We are looking to hire a practitioner who strives for excellence in all that they do and believes in our ethos of Aim High, Be Kind and Take Responsibility, ensuring the commitment towards these goals and our ethos is extremely important to us. Furthermore, you will lead, develop and implement an effective coaching and mentoring model to support colleagues in delivering outstanding lessons. Main responsibilities:

  • To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher/Tutor
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to accelerate with their learning
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment across the school
  • Fully engaging in the Developmental Drop In (DDI) process by giving and receiving feedback
  • To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth
  • Deliver staff training and evaluate the effectiveness of current training
  • To lead, monitor and evaluate the assessment and feedback to students in line with whole school and department policy

You will need:

  • Relevant degree
  • Qualified Teacher Status or be working towards
  • Experience of working in a school setting
  • Evidence of / Commitment to continuing professional development
