Brecon High School is an 11-16 school serving the garrison town of Brecon and the wider rural area. There are currently 560 pupils on roll with around 14% of pupils being eligible for free school meals. 20% of pupils have a special educational need including around 4% who have a statement of need. The school runs an on-site Specialist Centre for pupils with ASD and moderate learning difficulties.
The school was placed into Special Measures in November 2022. This appointment is therefore critical to the school in terms of providing continuity to the learning experiences of pupils.
The school benefits from a hardworking, well qualified and dedicated team of teachers and associate staff. The school fosters a strong ethos of mutual respect, team spirit and working together in the best interests of pupils. Our pupils are well behaved and very welcoming. They are proud of their school and want it to achieve the school vision of being the best you can be. We are working together to achieve this aim and your addition to the learning community will help to achieve this vision at a faster pace.
This appointment is a key addition to the Mathematics & Numeracy Area of Learning Experience in order to further compliment the current staff and subject coverage within our school.
Our school website provides a range of information about the school and I would encourage you to view this to learn more about our approach to learning.
You will be offered excellent guidance, support and ongoing professional learning opportunities whilst at Brecon High School. In return we ask for your commitment to achieving excellence, your ability to inspire others and a passion for improving the life chances of all members of the school community.
