Support the Headteacher and line managers by taking responsibility for the management of the school site and associated facilities and support the development of systems within the school to include Health & Safety, First Aid and take responsibility for the management of facilities and all site services, including key holder responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance through working with the Headteacher and Governors in all aspects of Health and Safety relating to the school site and ensuring legislative compliance in all relevant areas e.g. Asbestos, Legionella, PAT testing, Fire Safety etc.
• Manage and oversee school security arrangements, alarm systems, CCTV or other surveillance equipment and undertake fire safety provision.
• Undertake budget management and prepare costed plans for repairs maintenance and other building activities.
• Arrange service and maintenance tenders and supervise maintenance contractors liaising with LA and other outside agencies, monitoring their performance and ensuring contract specifications are met.
• In consultation with the senior leadership team (SLT), contribute to planning and development of policies and procedures.
• Act as the school’s Health and Safety Coordinator, manage data and information, including Health and Safety records where appropriate and produce analysis and reports.
• Manage Health and Safety inspections regularly to identify unsafe or unhealthy conditions, Hazards or work practices. Compile reports for the Governing Body’s Health and Safety Sub-Committee and the local Authority’s Corporate Landlord. Ensure that accidents and near misses are reported and subsequently investigated as soon as reasonably practicable, enacting appropriate remedial actions to prevent a possible reoccurrence.
