Pencoed Comprehensive School is a successful, 11-18 community school of 930 pupils, conveniently located along the M4 Corridor (J35) near Bridgend South Wales.

The Governing Body seeks to appoint an enthusiastic, driven and innovative Deputy Headteacher to work in close partnership with the Headteacher to further enhance the educational experience of every pupil and build upon the school’s current success. Applications are welcomed from both experienced Deputy Headteachers and ambitious Assistant Headteachers seeking promotion.

We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher who:

• Has the ability to raise, challenge and support the aspirations of all students and staff.

• Demonstrates exemplary professionalism and serves as an excellent role model, with the skills and experience required to lead effective teams, offers robust support to the Headteacher, and provides strategic guidance to  members of the Senior Leadership Team.

• Is creative, enthusiastic and consistently displays transparency and clarity on guidance together with Common Sense Values.

• Has high expectations of learners, staff and themselves by continual evaluation and self- evaluation.

• Has the ability to improve the school’s strategic planning, current vision and improvement journey.

• Can build an effective working relationship with the school’s Governing Body and the Local Authority

• Takes shared responsibility for developing community focus.

• Has a sound understanding of school finances and budgets.

When acting in the Headteacher’s absence, the Deputy Headteacher will take full responsibility for the leadership, management and conduct of the school, ensuring continuity, accountability and high professional standards.

A Disclosure Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level will be required for this post.
