The Governing Body wish to appoint 3 x enthusiastic, conscientious and caring Learning Supportive Officers to work in a school that has been frequently praised for its inclusive and aspirational ethos. The successful candidates will join a highly motivated and friendly team and support pupils in the classroom to be confident learners who achieve well.
Job Purpose:
Under the instruction of teaching/ relevant staff, the successful candidate will undertake a range of support and intervention programmes to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils in the learning environment. They will help pupils overcome barriers to learning and so promote inclusion, independence, and positive learning behaviour.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
• Supervise pupils and provide support to pupils to enable them to fully participate in lessons
• Undertake structured and agreed learning activities, adapting or modifying to enable pupil access to learning.
• Implement and undertake agreed structured learning programmes and activities
• Assist with the development and implementation of Education plans and other relevant learner documentation
• Take responsibility for small groups of pupils who require extra support or a different learning approach
• Adapt or modify resources to enable pupils to access learning
• Provide specific care to pupils with additional learning needs
• Contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning programmes for individuals and groups.
• Supervise pupils during and between lessons
• Monitor pupils’ responses to learning and provide feedback to teachers on achievement, progress, problems etc.
• Administer tests and exam invigilation
• Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with school policy
• Develop sound working relationships with pupils requiring targeted support
• Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
• Involvement in the running of pre-school and after-school clubs and interventions (negotiable)
• Any other duties commensurate with the role
