Tremains Primary School is a two-form entry primary school located in Brackla. The school boasts a unique and diverse learning environment, with three specialist placement classes: two Foundation Phase Observation and Assessment Learning Resource Classes, and a Key Stage 2 ASDLRC. This dynamic setting allows the school to cater to the diverse needs of its pupils, providing tailored support and opportunities for growth.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Support Officer to join our dynamic team at Tremains Primary School. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and providing support to pupils with Additional Learning needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities in the Learning Resource Centre. As an excellent classroom practitioner with experience in specialist placement classes, you will have an in-depth knowledge of supporting children with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the class teacher, deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that inspire and challenge pupils
- Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupil achievement, progress, problems, etc.
- Prepare and use equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assist pupils in their use.
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work.
- Assist with the planning and preparation of learning activities.
- Assist with the supervision of pupils outside of lesson times, including lunchtime and playtime.
- Provide support for pupils and their personal care needs
Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both with children and adults.
- Wide range of skills to motivate pupils with challenging behaviour.
- Ability to develop the selection and preparation of resources suitable for children and young people's interests and abilities.
- Ability to work flexibly in order to maintain and analyse records of learners' progress.
- Ability to help learners improve their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
- The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
