From September 2026, Maesteg School is delighted to invite applications for a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of International Languages, with the flexibility to contribute to English teaching where required. This opportunity arises following the well-earned retirement of the current post holder and offers the chance to build on strong foundations while shaping the next chapter of our provision.
We are seeking a teacher with a strong moral purpose, high professional standards and a genuine belief in the potential of every learner. The successful candidate will bring skill, creativity and ambition to their classroom practice, setting consistently high expectations and inspiring pupils to strive for excellence. They will share our commitment to innovation and collaboration, working alongside colleagues to realise a collective vision that places learners, families and our wider community at its heart.
You will create learning experiences in International Languages – and, where appropriate, English – that are engaging, inclusive and meaningful, fostering curiosity, confidence and a love of learning. At Maesteg School, we believe that International Languages play a vital role in developing confident, outward-looking young people. This post offers the opportunity to help pupils see themselves as global citizens, equipped with the cultural understanding, communication skills and sense of purpose needed to thrive in the twenty-first century.
Maesteg School is a highly supportive and aspirational community in which both learners and staff are genuinely valued and nurtured. In an Interim Visit in October 2026, Estyn recognised that leaders have “developed a culture where self-evaluation is an integral part of school life”, with professional learning, coaching and action research embedded to support teachers at all stages of their careers. The successful candidate will be joining a school that cares for its teachers, realising how their well-being is central to the well-being of the pupils themselves.
Application Closing Date: Friday 15th May at 9am
Maesteg Comprehensive School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
