Are you passionate about making a lasting difference to the lives of young people?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Lead to join our pastoral team and play a key role in ensuring every student feels safe, supported and able to thrive. Working with a designated year group, you will champion students' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development, creating a strong sense of identity and belonging while helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
As Pastoral Lead, you will build positive relationships with students, families, staff and external agencies to provide high-quality pastoral care and targeted interventions. You will lead a team of tutors, support the delivery of the tutor programme, monitor attendance and behaviour, respond to safeguarding and welfare concerns, and use data to identify and implement effective strategies for students who need additional support. This varied role requires excellent communication, resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations with empathy, professionalism and sound judgement.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced pastoral professional who is committed to improving outcomes for young people and fostering an inclusive, positive school culture. If you are an organised, proactive individual with a passion for supporting students' wellbeing and development, we would love to hear from you. Join our Hanham Woods Academy and become part of a dedicated team committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed both academically and personally.
About you:
You will have/be:
- Experience of working with young people, ideally within a secondary school or supporting students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection, with a commitment to promoting the safety and wellbeing of all students.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, colleagues and external agencies.
- Experience of delivering pastoral interventions and supporting positive behaviour, attendance and inclusion to improve student outcomes.
- Highly organised with excellent problem-solving skills, able to manage competing priorities, analyse information and make informed decisions.
- A resilient, compassionate and proactive approach, with a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
