Briarwood has a dedicated team of staff, governors and parents/carers who are proud to support 167, rising to 233 in September 2026, children and young people aged 3 to 19 years and are passionate about their progress, happiness and care. We are seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Personal Care Assistants to join our dedicated school team at our fishponds and Knowle Sites.
The successful candidate will provide personal care and support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning opportunities and participate fully in school life. The positions would suit someone from a care background as the job is about the personal care of our pupils not their educational needs.
- To carry out personal care routines with/for our pupils (including manual handling, training will be provided).
- To assist in the break and lunchtime supervision of pupils to ensure that their drink/meal is completed on time in a safe and hygienic setting.
- To deliver food in the consistency and way suitable for each pupil according to their personal eating and drinking needs.
- To support hydrotherapy and physiotherapy sessions.
- To deliver a range of appropriate lunchtime play or leisure activities for pupils to ensure that lunchtime is an enjoyable experience for all children.
- Further training will be provided to assist pupils that are tube fed and for the administration of medication.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be compassionate, patient, and respectful.
- To support pupils in accessing their environment and community. Candidates must bring energy and enthusiasm with a commitment to inclusion. We will provide a planned induction within a strong and supportive multi-professional team.

The posts are permanent. 5 days a week - 25 hours per week. Monday to Friday 9.30am to 2.45pm (including a 15 minute unpaid break). Term time only, working 39 weeks (including 5 inset days), 13 weeks school holidays of which 6.6 weeks paid as annual leave. No entitlement to annual leave during term. Salary dependent on Local Government continuous service . Pay award pending.
