Hanham Woods Academy are looking for a passionate and inspiring qualified Curriculum Leader of English to join our supportive and dedicated team at Hanham Woods Academy. We are a growing organisation, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning. This is an important appointment and we are very open to receiving applications from anyone who believes they can do the job. It would suit an existing Curriculum Leader looking to develop experience of Middle Leadership in another school; a Second in Department looking to take the next step in their leadership journey or even an outstanding classroom teacher with the desire to lead their own department. You will have to opportunity to build on the successes of the previous Curriculum Leader whilst also developing your own vision and strategic plan to further improve the English department. We provide excellent training and development opportunities within the Federation, including a full induction programme for newly qualified and experienced teachers. Training is both local and/or delivered through our excellent stand-alone training facility at the CLF Institute. For teachers, the CLF Institute aims to provide a continuum of development through each career stage from initial teacher training (ITT), for newly qualified teachers (NQT), recently qualified teachers in their early career development, to successive stages of leadership through to Headship and beyond.
What we are looking for:
We look for passionate individuals who want to be a part of transforming education and will make an active contribution to the development of the Cabot Learning Federation and chosen Academy. You will be used to planning and consistently delivering high quality lessons, will have experience in delivering the English curriculum and will be a strong communicator with the ability to embrace change and motivate colleagues and students. A well-qualified specialist, holding QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, you will have the ability to teach from Key Stage 3-Key Stage 4. We look for professional’s who have excellent class management skills and have high expectations of work and behaviour and who are willing to get involved in all aspects of school life by contributing to wider academy life by leading trips, visits, clubs and enrichment opportunities.
About the Cabot Learning Federation
The Cabot Learning Federation is a diverse Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) in the South West. We are proud to serve 15,000+ pupils who all attend ten secondary academies, thirteen primary academies, an all through provision, a studio school, a discrete Post 16 provision, two alternative provision schools and three SEMH special schools.
Hanham Woods Academy is part of the Cabot Learning Federation and is one of the most improved Academies in the South West, providing education to over 800 students. The Academy has a growing reputation both locally and regionally. Whilst we appreciate the unique setting in which the Academy is placed, we work hard to challenge students from a variety of backgrounds to be the best they can be in all areas of life. The Academy was placed in special measures by Ofsted in October 2017; however, since that time we have been on a rapid improvement journey. Ofsted have visited three times to monitor progress and on each occasion have been impressed by the actions leaders have taken to address the areas for improvement. In November 2019 Ofsted judged Hanham Woods Academy to be ‘Good’.
