Hours: 1500 – 1800 hrs term time, 0700 – 1800 school holidays, excluding Christmas and last week August
Working pattern: Afterschool sessions during term time, with additional work during school holidays
Salary: BG5 – BG7 depending on experience
Contract: Fixed term

About the role
Broomhill Infant School is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and dependable person to join our Afterschool and Holiday Club team.
The successful candidate will help provide a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment in which children can relax, play, develop friendships and enjoy a wide range of creative, physical and outdoor activities.
This role will also include acting as the Club Leader during the Club Leader’s absence. Applicants must therefore be confident in taking responsibility for the safe and effective running of the provision, supervising other staff and ensuring that safeguarding, health and safety, first-aid and collection procedures are followed consistently.
Main responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Support the daily running of the Afterschool and Holiday Club.
• Provide engaging, age-appropriate activities linked to children’s interests.
• Create a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment.
• Promote positive relationships, behaviour and children’s emotional wellbeing.
• Support children with SEND, medical needs and individual care or support plans.
• Maintain appropriate levels of supervision at all times.
• Follow the school’s safeguarding, child-protection, behaviour, first-aid, medication and health and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate registers, accident records and collection information.
• Communicate positively and professionally with children, parents, carers and school staff.
• Help prepare and serve appropriate snacks and refreshments.
• Assist with setting up, tidying and maintaining a safe and well-organised environment.
• Take responsibility for the provision and step into the Club Leader role when the substantive leader is absent.
• When acting as leader, organise staff deployment, oversee safeguarding arrangements, manage incidents and ensure the safe handover and collection of every child.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience of working with children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and/or Key Stage 1.
• Has a secure knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum, including learning through play.
• Has experience and knowledge of school safeguarding and child-protection procedures.
• Understands how to recognise, record and report safeguarding concerns.
• Is confident in taking responsibility and leading the provision when required.
• Understands the importance of confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Can provide inclusive support for children with SEND, communication needs, medical needs or emotional and behavioural needs.
• Can work effectively as part of a team while also using their own initiative.
• Is calm, reliable, organised and able to respond appropriately in an emergency.

Qualifications and training
Applicants should ideally hold:
• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in childcare, early years, playwork, supporting teaching and learning, youth work or a related area.
• A current Paediatric First Aid qualification, or be willing to complete this.
• Current safeguarding and child-protection training, or be willing to undertake this before starting the role.
• Training or experience in supporting children with SEND.
A relevant Level 3 qualification, leadership experience, food hygiene training and experience of administering medication would be desirable.
