The Autistic Resource Base (ARB) at New Oak is expanding and we are looking for an inspirational leader with a deep passion for curriculum and communication to come and shape the lives of 28 young people.

The ARB currently has two classes, but we are currently building a bespoke space which will house two more classrooms, a teaching kitchen, an occupational therapy room and more. We are looking for someone to manage and lead the ARB in its totality: provide its strategic direction, be responsible for attainment and progress of all the pupils and support and coach the teaching team. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of Autism and communication, they will be an empathetic leader and understand the importance of positive relationships with all stake holders.

The successful candidate will be non-class based but will provide PPA cover and sickness cover where appropriate. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal, in developing the curriculum, ethos and vision for the ARB. You will play a significant role in improving the lives of 28 vulnerable children to ensure they get the best possible offer.

Pupils flourish in the nurturing culture at OA New Oak which embraces inclusivity and values everyone for their individuality. Provision for pupils who have high-level special educational needs is strong – there are two specialist resource bases, one for children with autism and one for deaf learners. Children enjoy coming to school and this is reflected in the high attendance and good behaviour – students are polite, considerate and respectful towards adults and each other.

Oasis Academy New Oak is a primary academy in Hengrove [South Bristol] which currently serves just over 200 young people.

Our last Ofsted inspection was in June 2022 where we were judged to be a ‘Good’ school with ‘Outstanding’ in Personal Development.
