What we are looking for:

Due to growth within our Trust, we have an exciting opportunity for a Clerk to join our Clerking Team. The successful candidate must have a genuine interest in school governance and be able to work to a highly professional and organised standard. We are looking for someone with a flexible approach to working, who would be willing to work across our clusters if required, but based mainly across our Gloucester and Bristol Clusters.

In Gloucester, we have permanent vacancies at Tewkesbury Academy (160hrs per year) and Brook Academy in Brockworth (95hrs per year). In Bristol, we have a permanent vacancy at John Cabot Academy (160hrs per year). Further opportunities may arise in the future, and the ability to provide cover on an ad hoc basis would be most welcome.

The Clerk will need to work effectively with the Chair of the Academy Council, the Academy Principal and other Councillors. The Clerk will ensure the smooth running of the Academy Council meetings: preparing agendas and meeting papers, taking and distributing minutes, giving administrative support, keeping records and up to date information on policies and date of reviews, and providing procedural and legislative advice to the Academy Council. The successful candidates will have excellent organisational, communication and ICT skills.

The roles are part-time covering 6 Academy Council meetings per year. Meetings are held in term time and the majority will be in-person meetings. The Clerk is also required to take minutes at ad hoc meetings, such as exclusion panels or complaints panels as required.

Your opportunity:

We are looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning. Working within the central team, you will be contracted on a hybrid working model which includes the variety of working from home and office-based working. We believe in a flexible working approach and encourage positive work life balance. You will be offered support and guidance when working from home not only from your direct team but from the wider CLF central function. You will also be based within the office or an academy setting for meetings to benefit in working with wider teams and build positive relationships with our key contacts within your schools.
