We have a vacancy for a clerk to support our highly active and committed governing body. The clerk to the governors is central to the smooth running of the governing body and responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and the timely circulation of agendas,
  • Attending governing body meetings and taking and distributing accurate minutes
  • Monitoring governing body membership and attendance
  • Maintaining the register of governors’ business interests
  • Providing administrative support to the governing body
  • Keeping records and providing advice to governors on their legal and procedural duties together with handling confidential information

The post is a part-time position, covering six Full Governing Body (FGB) meetings held each term throughout the academic year and the necessary administrative support to ensure the governing body runs effectively.

Home working with attendance at Horfield Primary School at six evening meetings. The clerk is expected to provide 15 hours of support prior to, during and after each Full Governing Body meeting which are held once per term. Each Full Governing Body meeting is held during the evening at school from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. 

Clerks must have excellent organisation, communication and ICT skills, as well as an ability to take accurate minutes at meetings. To help the successful applicant fulfil their role we expect them to attend all relevant training events and the Clerk’s Network meetings.
