Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Actual Annual Salary: £24,709 - £26,610 Based on hours and working weeks

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £28,856 - £31,111 (CLF Grade 8) Based on all year round

Contract Type: Fixed Term

Contract Length: Fixed until 31 August 2026

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)

Provisional Start Date: September 2025

Empower students to thrive - support learning, lead with confidence, and make every lesson count as a Cover Supervisor.

As Cover Supervisor you will supervise whole classes and/or small groups during the short term absence of the timetabled class teacher, whether planned or un-planned absence.  Ensuring students carry out the curriculum tasks set by the absent teacher, assisting them to understand the nature of the work set, managing student behaviour and minimising the impact of the teacher’s absence on their learning.   

When not covering a class, you will assist the Learning Support Team in supporting students in their lessons.  You may also be asked to support in exam invigilation, interventions or any other reasonable student facing role.

You will be someone who is passionate about supporting young people and committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

You will:

  • Be confident in supervising whole classes or small groups, ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absences.
  • Possess excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Be highly organised, with strong administrative skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, active listening, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Be able to manage classroom activities and resources safely and effectively, while maintaining a calm and professional approach under pressure.
