We are seeking an exceptional and dedicated Head of Year to join our vibrant and inclusive school community. At Montpelier High School, we are proud of our identity, diversity and shared achievement, and we are committed to ensuring every student feels supported, challenged and inspired to succeed. As a key pastoral leader, you will play a pivotal role in promoting high standards of attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, working closely with students, families and staff to help every young person thrive both academically and personally.
Key responsibilities:
Provide outstanding pastoral leadership for a designated year group, promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance, wellbeing and achievement.
Build positive and supportive relationships with students, acting as a key advocate for their personal development and academic success.
Monitor and track student progress, attendance and behaviour, intervening effectively where concerns arise.
Lead on safeguarding, welfare and child protection matters for students within the year group, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and external agencies as appropriate.
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers and support staff to ensure students are fully supported to achieve their potential.
Pay range:
SCP 23 - 26 - £30,285.52 - £32,788.64
FTE - £34,434.00 - £37,280.00
37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalent
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents/carers, staff and external agencies.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and support young people to achieve their full potential.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to manage challenging situations calmly, professionally and sensitively.
