Purpose of the role

Cathedral Schools Trust is seeking to appoint a Headteacher to lead the SLT and staff team at Victoria Park Primary School from 1st September 2024. The Headteacher will work closely with the CEO, Director of Primary Phase, Primary Teaching and Learning Lead and Adviser, and other Headteachers within the Trust, the Local Governing Body and staff within the school, to provide exceptional provision for children and families.

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking Headteacher to lead this vibrant school within a dynamic and supportive trust. The successful candidate should be a role model of the Trust’s core values by being creative, collaborative and reflective. They must be willing to work closely with colleagues across the Trust whilst having a clear vision to move the school forward.

The staff at Victoria Park are highly committed to providing an inspiring learning environment for their pupils. There is a strong culture of camaraderie across the team where laughter, teamwork and cooperation are highly valued. Staff development and learning are prioritised and there are extensive professional development opportunities within and beyond the Trust.

Victoria Park is a two form entry school at the heart of a supportive and close local community. It prides itself on providing a carefully planned curriculum, a nurturing environment and a community of confident, curious learners. There are a number of established partnerships with local arts organisations, including Travelling Light Theatre Company.

The school is well poised to make further improvements through a well established culture of teamwork and the support of the Cathedral Schools Trust.

Cathedral Schools Trust is made up of three secondary schools (Bristol Cathedral Choir School, St Katherine's School and Trinity Academy) and six primary schools (Victoria Park, Cathedral Primary, Stoke Park, St Werburgh’s, Hotwells and Victoria Park). Three further primary schools will be joining the trust later this year. Staff across the schools work closely together and there are a wide range of networking opportunities.

If you can demonstrate that you possess the necessary experience, knowledge and qualifications, and aspire to our values and vision, then we would like to hear from you.

Visits to the school are encouraged - if you would like to arrange one, or for an informal discussion about the role, please use the contact details included on the job description document.

Please note that we will only consider applications through iTrent and will not consider CVs so please ensure that your supporting statement on the application meets the requirements of the person specification. We encourage you to be succinct and to restrict your supporting statement to no more than four pages in length.

Closing date: Tuesday 23rd April 2024, midnight

Interview: Wednesday 1st May 2024 (with selected applicants invited back on Thursday 2nd May 2024)

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check upon appointment.
