Grade + Salary: G9 - £31,537 full time - actual pro-rata salary £24,225

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only including INSET days (39 weeks)

This is a permanent contract commencing on 01.09.2026.

Probation period: This role is subject to passing a satisfactory probation period.

Cotham School, a successful, vibrant and diverse 11-18 comprehensive school, wishes to appoint an experienced HLTA to develop and deliver resources, interventions and programmes to support students with their Literacy skills, specifically Reading. You will deliver high quality literacy support and intervention to small groups and individual students across Key Stages 3 and 4, organising and managing an appropriate learning environment and resources targeted to their need. You will be integral to the assessment of students’ reading skills, be part of the data analysis and plan accordingly for the intervention required to ensure students ‘catch up and keep up’ in this foundational skill.

You will work in close liaison with colleagues, other agencies and parents to create co-ordinated approaches to supporting individual students, monitoring their effectiveness and supporting colleagues in their implementation.

This is a great first-level teaching support post: many of our previous successful applicants have gone on to gain teaching qualifications and further qualifications in teaching literacy.
