Learning Support Assistant (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our school community on a maternity cover basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with complex educational, medical, and behavioural needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally.
At New Fosseway School, every member of staff plays an important role in helping our pupils achieve their potential. Our Learning Support Assistants are highly valued members of the team, working closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised support that enables pupils to access learning, build confidence, and achieve the outcomes outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
We are looking for someone who is nurturing, energetic, patient, and adaptable, with the ability to build positive relationships and use a range of behaviour support strategies to help pupils succeed.
Working Hours
32.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
Term time only, plus 5 INSET days
Part-time hours may also be available and can be discussed at interview.
What We're Looking For
Essential requirements include:
NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) as a minimum
GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Knowledge of strategies to support behaviour, communication, speech and language development
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and current SEN practices
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies to support EHCP outcomes
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to accurately monitor and report pupil progress
