The Role

We are recruiting for a temporary Lifeguard/Administrator.  The post is available for an immediate start subject to satisfactory references/clearances. The contract will run until the end of Term 3 (12 February 2027) in the first instance.

As our Lifeguard, you will be working alongside our team of friendly and well-motivated PE teachers. The successful applicant will play a very important role in ensuring the smooth and safe delivery of swimming lessons. The role will include relevant departmental tasks.

As a member of our Administration Support Team, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the school. This includes delivering high-quality support across general office functions.

The successful candidate will be well organised, resilient, resourceful, and understand the need for confidentiality, with excellent attention to detail. We are ideally seeking a qualified lifeguard to start as soon as possible; however, we would fund a lifeguarding qualification for the right candidate.

The post is 32.5 hours per week working Monday to Friday (from 8.30 to 15.30 daily) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

This post is graded Bristol Grade 6 (BG6), term time only plus 5 INSET days. The salary for this job will start at point 6 of the BG6 range, i.e. £26,847 gross (paid pro rata plus holiday pay). The full-time equivalent salary will be pro-rated according to working hours and working weeks per annum. The role is subject to a 6-month probationary period.

The School

St Mary Redcliffe and Temple (SMRT) is a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1750 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond. We are located at the heart of the city and have a diverse student community with considerable parental support. Our diversity is a strength and something we celebrate. The Redcliffe Sixth Form Centre currently houses approximately 700 students from our own school and from many other schools across the City.

Application Process

Please be aware that we will review applications as they are received and reserve the right to close this advert at any time. Candidates must complete our application form and return it as a Word document using the email address in our covering letter. Please ensure that you complete all parts of the application form, including the additional information section. It is particularly important that you include your personal details so that we can contact you. We recommend that you complete your application on a PC or laptop, and not on a mobile device.

When providing details of your referees you must include their e-mail address. References must span the last 5 years of employment history in accordance with KCSIE guidance. Please include a referee from your current post (principal or headteacher where applicable) and if you have worked in multiple settings in this 5-year period, you should have included a referee from each setting.
