The Role
We are advertising for a full-time temporary Maths teacher (maternity cover) and the post is available from early January 2027 (date to be confirmed, and subject to satisfactory references and clearances).  The temporary contract will last a maximum of 52 weeks or until the post holder returns should this be earlier.

This post provides a unique opportunity to develop new skills in a school which has a compelling vision and deep commitment to providing exceptional teaching and learning.  Please see the Job Description and Person Specification for further details.

We seek to appoint a talented teacher with a passion for maths teaching who loves to see mathematicians of all abilities enjoying their maths, learning actively, and making rapid progress. The ability to teach maths to KS3 and KS4 is essential. The ability to teach maths to KS5 would be an advantage.

Mathematics is a friendly department with a well-qualified, committed team of teachers who enjoy working collaboratively. There is a lot of extra-curricular maths, especially in the sixth form. Many students have taken part in the British Mathematical Olympiad and Sixth Form Interschool Maths Competitions. There are currently over 200 students studying Maths at A Level. Several students in recent years have gone on to study Mathematics at top universities, including Oxbridge, and there is considerable support and encouragement for these students from the department. We are also very proud of how we help students of all abilities strengthen their skills.

The School

We are a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1750 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond. We are located at the heart of the city and have a diverse student community with considerable parental support. Our diversity is a strength and something we celebrate. The Redcliffe Sixth Form Centre currently houses approximately 700 students from our own school and from many other schools across the City.

Application Process

The closing date for receipt of a completed application form and our teaching experience sheet (Word Documents) by the School is Sunday 18 October 2026 (by midnight).  We expect to interview on Wednesday 21 October, and will therefore be in contact with shortlisted candidates on Monday 19 October.

Candidates must complete our application form and return it to us using the email address in our covering letter. Please ensure that you complete all parts of the application form, including the additional information section. It is particularly important that you include your personal details so that we can contact you. We recommend that you complete your application on a PC or laptop, and not on a mobile device.

When providing details of your referees you must include their e-mail address. References must span the last 5 years of employment history in accordance with KCSIE guidance. Please include a referee from your current post (principal or headteacher) and if you have worked in multiple settings in this 5-year period, you should have included a referee from each setting.
