We are seeking a skilled and passionate Peripatetic Piano/Vocal Teacher to deliver high-quality instrumental and/or vocal tuition to our students. This is a self‑employed contractor role, ideal for a music professional who enjoys working flexibly, independently, and as part of a growing creative team.
Our academy is deeply community‑driven, and our music provision plays an important role in enriching students’ educational experience. You will work closely with staff, students, and families to nurture musical development and foster a love of performance.
About the Role
As a self‑employed Peripatetic Piano/Vocal Teacher, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group tuition in piano and/or voice.
- Plan and deliver engaging, progressive lessons tailored to individual student needs.
- Prepare students for performances, assessments, and (where appropriate) music exams.
- Maintain clear communication with parents/carers and the academy regarding progress, attendance, and scheduling.
- Promote safe working practices and uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
Teaching hours will be arranged directly with the academy and may be adapted based on demand.
About You
You will:
- Be an experienced and enthusiastic piano and/or vocal teacher with strong musical and pedagogical skills.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to encourage and inspire learners of all abilities.
- Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own timetable as an independent contractor.
- Show patience, empathy, and a student‑centred approach to teaching.
- Be committed to safeguarding, professionalism, and maintaining high standards of tuition.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering high‑quality lessons that develop students’ technique, confidence, and musicality.
- Supporting academy events such as concerts or showcases where relevant.
- Keeping accurate records of attendance, progress, and lesson scheduling as part of your self‑employed responsibilities.
- Liaising with administrative staff to ensure smooth running of your teaching timetable.
- Promoting an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
