Are you practical and looking for a hands-on job with lots of variety? Are you reliable with a positive 'can do' attitude'? Can you be flexible and organise your time between two schools?

If so, we can provide you with a unique opportunity to play a very important part in the efficient running of two of our schools by providing a safe, secure and comfortable environment for the students and staff at Minerva Primary School and Priorswood Primary. As Premises Manager, you will be physically fit and competent to carry out a range of duties from opening-up to emergency repairs. Your understanding of building maintenance schedules as well as being able to demonstrate effective prioritisation skills will put you at a considerable advantage.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in the post, we are looking for someone helpful and proactive who is willing to meet the needs of both schools and has a variety of practical skills to apply to the general upkeep, operation and site safety of the buildings and grounds. You will take direction from the Estates and Deputy Estates Manager, be IT literate and able to form excellent working relationships with the Principals and Operations Manager's.

This role is based in Taunton and sits within the wider Cabot Learning Federation Estates Team. You will undertake a wide range of duties including:

  • Being pro-active in identifying, reporting and rectifying defects
  • Managing a varied workload from unblocking sinks to painting and decorating
  • Ensuring the grounds and buildings are clean and hazard free
  • General porterage including distributing deliveries, moving furniture and setting up rooms
  • Ordering and refilling hygiene supplies
  • Raising orders, obtaining quotes and liaising with contractors
  • Dealing with emergency spillages, floods and drain blockages
  • Overseeing the day-to-day premises budget
  • Undertaking waste collection, litter removal and recycling
  • Prioritising various reactive minor repairs to the buildings and grounds
  • Seasonal weather duties (e.g. clearing of snow, gutters and drains)
  • Carrying out statutory checks and testing (e.g. fire alarms and emergency lighting)
  • Forming productive working relationships with contractors and colleagues
  • Ensuring the academy is unlocked at the beginning of the school day
  • Promoting and encouraging a strong Health & Safety culture

The successful candidate will receive training in fire safety, asbestos awareness, control of legionella and various other site safety and compliance checks.
