We are looking to appoint a Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) Learning Support Assistant, to provide one to one support and care for children with complex needs, enabling them to attend nursery and build their independence.

What’s it like being a SEND learning support assistant at Redcliffe Nursery School…

“Being a support worker is a fast paced, varied and incredibly rewarding job and I love it. Spending time with a child one to one, learning about them, how they communicate and process things, earning their trust and then watching them as they learn, grow and interact with others is incredible. No day is ever the same and there are ups and down on the way, but in my opinion, there is nothing like it!” – Jessie, SEND learning support assistant at Redcliffe Nursery School.

The ideal candidate will have some experience of working with children with complex SEND needs. Previous experience is desired, however not essential, as training will be provided. The successful candidates will be working alongside other SEND Learning Support Assistants and our SENDco's as part of a supportive SEND team. We place high value on the training and skill development for all members of staff.

Applicants will need to be enthusiastic, energetic and have the ability to implement consistent routines and boundaries. Be able to build positive relationships, working closely with staff and parents in order to share detailed information regarding the child’s nursery day.

Being outdoors is strongly embedded in our ethos. You will need to be willing to spend time outdoors during children’s play and support the child with regular visits to Leigh Wood’s as part of our Forest Experience.

Working hours: flexible – ideally Full time 8.00am-4.00pm, however part time options available. Standard part time working hours are 8.45am-3.15pm Monday to Friday, although we will consider 3 full working day

We are committed to supporting our staff team in their personal and professional development. Whether you’re just starting out working in early years, or have decades of experience, we will provide bespoke support to enable you to thrive in the role and meet your career aspirations.

• A thorough induction.

• An opportunity to take part in whole team professional development INSET days.

• Ongoing opportunities for professional development.

• A warm and supportive team.

• Supervision with a leader.

• A chance to shape and develop our after-school provision.

• A chance to learn from our Key People, qualified teachers and SENDOs.

• A chance to contribute your ideas and energy to the nursery and be a valued member of the team.

Closing date: 27th August 2026.  We reserve the rights to close the application window sooner, should a suitable applicant be found
