Teaching Assistant 

Location: Oasis Academy Brightstowe

Salary: £24,294 - £25,979 (Scale Points 7-11; pro rata, term time) + generous pension scheme

We are looking for high quality individuals to join our dynamic Inclusion team to assist in the educational, personal and social development of designated students under the direction and guidance of relevant colleagues (e.g. the Principal, SENCo and class teachers.)

This role is working 39 weeks per year during school term time and INSET days. It offers all other school closure times (i.e. half-term breaks, Christmas, Easter and Summer Holidays as time off work).

The role 

You will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will support the class teacher to promote positive behaviour, you will understand learning objectives, content and intended outcomes for the learning activities in which students are involved and you will support monitoring student progress. You will work collaboratively with relevant colleagues in order to maintain consistent support, communication and updated support plans, and to fulfil other requirements of the role. 

We are looking for someone who:

  • has successful experience of working with young people ideally within a school environment
  • demonstrates willingness and ability to support children with a range of SEND needs including Autism and physical disabilities
  • can work effectively with our teachers in the delivery of the national curriculum
  • works well in a team environment
  • can demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and good organisational skills
  • has emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes
  • is available 5 days a week from 8am - 4pm
  • establishes and maintains strong relationships, using excellent interpersonal skills
  • has a desire to learn the most up-to-date teaching and behaviour management strategies
  • is passionate and committed to making a difference in the lives of our pupils and their communities
  • is willing to model and support the Oasis ethos
