JOB OVERVIEW
Stoke Bishop CofE Primary School is a friendly and thriving two-form entry primary school in North West Bristol. We are a single academy trust and our school's vision is "Believing it's Possible." The school values of Grace, Passion, Courage and Integrity are demonstrated in our day to day life.
We currently have a vacancy for a SEND teaching assistant to provide support to children with additional needs across the school. Working alongside the class teachers, you will need to be astute and perceptive, able to quickly grasp what support the children’s needs to enable them to make strides in all aspects of learning. You will also have to be flexible and creative, so that you can adapt and deliver that support effectively.
The role includes:
- additional support required with academic work both individually and in class
- supporting the children when they become dysregulated
- supporting transition into school and at lunchtimes
- managing emotions and support work on managing emotions
Previous experience would be an advantage but it just as important to us to find someone who can develop effective relationships and champion the children’s needs and help those with additional needs make the most of everything school has to offer, socially, emotionally and academically.
You will be joining a very open, friendly and energetic team, working across a range of year groups. We are looking for people who like to contribute and see the impact of their work, both with children and colleagues. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and interests both as part of your team and as an individual.
The post also includes a lunchtime role that is focused on supporting play and outdoor learning in a variety of ways.
The working hours will be 30 hours per week.
This position is for a fixed term from 1st September 2026 to 31st August 2027 (although there is the possibility that this could be extended).

SALARY AND WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
BG6 salary scale - Full time equivalent salary of £25,989 to £26,403 pa (Actual £18,428 - £18,722), depending on experience.
The contract is for 30 hours per week, during term time only and includes working inset days.
The hours are Monday - Friday from 8.45am to 3.30pm with a 15 minute morning break and a 30 minute lunch break.
Start date: 3rd September 2026
