We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Sports Coach to join the Primary phase at Merchants’ Academy, a welcoming and ambitious school at the heart of its community. As part of our commitment to delivering a broad and engaging curriculum, physical education plays a vital role in helping every pupil develop confidence, resilience and a love of being active. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, inclusive and engaging PE lessons, supporting all pupils to participate, progress and achieve their full potential while contributing to a consistent and professional sports provision across the academy.

Key responsibilities:

Plan and deliver high quality, engaging and safe PE lessons that promote participation, skill development and enjoyment for all pupils.

Ensure PE provision is inclusive, adapting activities to meet the needs and abilities of all pupils.

Support the development and continuous improvement of PE across the academy.

Organise and lead extra-curricula sports clubs contributing to a broad and active school offer.

Attend and support school sports fixtures and competitions throughout the academic year.


Pay range:

NJC 5 - 7 £18,000.76 - £18,577.73

FTE - £25,583.00 - £26,403.00

Part Time, Permanent

29.6 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

8.30am - 4.30pm 3 days per week, 8.30am - 4.05pm 1 day per week


Qualifications and Skills:

Experience of delivering sports coaching sessions to children.

First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain

Strong organisational skills including the ability to set up, manage and run clubs and activities

Ability to plan and deliver engaging PE sessions
