We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate teacher of Geography to join Oasis Academy John Williams. You will have the skills to inspire and motivate our students to excel in the subject and to help shape them in becoming aspirational, informed, and compassionate global citizens as they gain a better understanding of the world around them and their role within it. You will inspire students to become active citizens through the delivery of an exciting and aspirational Oasis curriculum which interleaves physical and human geography, including units on natural hazards, cold environments, and the greatest threats to our planet.
Geography continues to be a very popular option at Key Stage 4 with x110 students in Year 11 and x145 in Year 10 following the GCSE AQA specification. You will be involved in the planning and delivery of fieldwork opportunities to the Bristol Harbourside and Lyme Regis to investigate the success of an urban regeneration project and a coastal management scheme. From September 2024, the Geography Department will also be offering a BTEC (Tech) Award in Travel and Tourism.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ECT or experienced teacher looking to make a difference to the lives of young people. There are a wide variety of CPD opportunities, including regular co-planning sessions with colleagues to plan, adapt and differentiate lesson resources as well as an established coaching programme. Oasis Academy John Williams is a thriving secondary school located in Hengrove, South Bristol, serving just over 880 students aged 11-16. Our student population is 84% White British, 15% SEN, 43% Disadvantaged and 32% FSM.
