Job Title: Teacher of Science

Actual Annual Salary: £19,749 - £30,628 (M1 to UPS3 based on 0.6 FTE)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £32,916 - £51,048 (M1 to UPS3)

Additional role info: The role requires 3 working days per week, with flexibility around which days are worked. Exact days will be discussed at interview.

We are seeking an inspirational Teacher of Science with the enthusiasm, expertise and commitment to deliver high‑quality learning experiences for our students. In this role, you will primarily teach Science across relevant key stages, while also providing high‑quality cover in other curriculum areas when needed. You will have the opportunity to use your passion and subject knowledge to spark curiosity, promote scientific thinking and contribute to the success and life chances of all children in our trust.

About you:

You will be:

  • A qualified teacher or hold an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Capable of delivering engaging, high‑quality Science lessons across relevant key stages, fostering curiosity, scientific literacy and a love of learning.
  • Flexible and confident in delivering cover lessons across other subjects when required, ensuring continuity of learning for all students.
  • Able to meet the needs of diverse learners, including pupil premium students, looked after children, SEND learners and high‑attaining students.
  • A strong communicator who can embrace change, motivate colleagues and build positive relationships with students, staff and families.
  • Committed to enriching learning beyond the classroom, supporting wider opportunities such as STEM enrichment, clubs, trips and experiences that enhance and extend students’ development.
  • Empowered to develop your own practice, contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and support the development of others.
  • Highly competent in meeting the Teachers’ Standards, offering sustained and substantial contributions consistent with an Upper Pay Scale teacher (where applicable).

John Cabot Academy is an 11-16 academy in South Gloucestershire, close to the border of Bristol. We share our site and staffing with the CLF Post-16 provision, forming an 11-18 academy, which has earned a strong reputation both locally and regionally.
