We are looking for a Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join Blaise High School and become an integral member of the SEND team.

Main responsibilities:

Provide, as directed, in class support for identified individuals or groups of students

In class support may be in a variety of subject lessons or in small group intervention classes, however if you have expertise in a particular subject area we will always try to have you support there.

Work with the teacher to ensure effective lesson preparation and delivery of the curriculum.

Pre-teach resources where appropriate.

Develop adaptive practice that ensures learners can access and succeed in the work set

Ensure that students being supported are independent and organised in their work

Assess and evaluate the underlying causes and issues of concern in lessons, address these including making referrals to others for additional support, and delivering interventions

Mentor and develop positive relationships with these students so support given can have the highest impact.

You will need:

A good relevant education to GCSE Level or equivalent

Previous experience of working with children in an educational setting.

Successful experience of working within a Secondary school/ Education setting

Experience of using Information Technology to support students in the classroom.

Experience of supporting SEN students in a mainstream classroom environment

Knowledge of strategies to recognise and reward efforts and achievements along with the ability to encourage students to become self-reliant and independent learners.

Knowledge of SEND.

Have had experience of working with children with SEMH

Knowledge of behaviour management strategies

Good interpersonal skills with both adults and children.

Be dependable, able to follow instructions and respond to management directions.

Have good working ICT knowledge.

Have a willingness to extend skills through appropriate training

A passion and desire to drive things forward.
