Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Level 1 (Early Years Foundation Stage)

Actual Annual Salary: £19,511 – £21,267

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £25,941 - £28,275 (CLF Grade B) Based on full time hours, all year round.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 32.5 hours per week - Part Time, Term Time Only plus Inset days 

Working Pattern: 6.5 hours Monday to Friday

Are you passionate about giving children the best start in life? We are looking for a dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team at Mary Rose Preschool, working with 3- and 4-year-olds.

The successful candidate will support children by using age-appropriate strategies and techniques to help them access the EYFS curriculum, engage in play-based learning, and reach their developmental milestones. Takes responsibility for implementing planned activities and learning experiences as agreed with the teacher, making adjustments based on children’s responses and individual needs. Promotes measurable progress in early learning goals as well as social, emotional, and physical development. Works collaboratively with colleagues and parents to create a nurturing, inclusive environment that supports holistic growth.

  • Have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning.

  • Be committed to undertake relevant qualifications, e.g. Relevant nvq level 2/ 3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification, to ensure ongoing professional development.
  • Be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one to one or small group basis.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, in particular with the ability to demonstrate empathy and active listening.
  • Have good planning and organisational skills, specifically with regard to learning activities and support materials.
  • Be someone with a keen interest in working with children and commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all.

Waycroft Academy is a two-form entry primary school, with nursery provisions for both two and three-year-olds, located in Stockwood, Bristol. We have extensive grounds that provide our children with many opportunities for outdoor learning.
