An exciting opportunity to work at a rapidly expanding Special School.
We are seeking to appoint Teaching Assistants at our fantastic special school. We currently have vacancies in our Nexus Provision. The Nexus provides bespoke educational programmes and positive behaviour support for children and young people with severe learning difficulties and associated challenging behaviours . The roles are demanding and challenging, but very rewarding. You will be required to use a reflective approach to learners, their learning and needs and be able to work creatively and proactively. Emotional resilience and an ability to engage learners is a must. Experience of working with children who demonstrate challenging behaviour is also desirable.
Briarwood has a dedicated team of staff, governors and parents/carers who are proud to support 167 children and young people aged 3 to 19 years and are passionate about their progress, happiness and care.
You will be required to work with a range of pupils whom have severe and profound learning difficulties. A large number of our pupils have challenging behaviours and are within the Autistic Spectrum. Candidates must bring energy, confidence and enthusiasm with a commitment to inclusion. We will provide a planned induction within a large, strong and supportive LSA and teaching team.
Under the guidance of the teaching staff, you will provide direct support for the learning of individual children or groups of children to achieve defined progression targets.
Experience and knowledge in working with children within a special needs setting is desirable.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our school in a period of rapid development.
The posts are either 30 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 8.50 am to 3.20 pm or 32.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3.45pm. Term time only, working 39 weeks (including 5 inset days), 13 weeks school holidays of which 6.6 weeks paid as annual leave. No entitlement to annual leave during term time.
