Brooklands School is part of Weydon Academy Multi Trust (WMAT) and is a split site, primary phase (2-11 years) special school in Reigate. On one site we have 100 pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties including autism. On our second site we have 74 pupils with ASD / CSCN.  Our most recent Ofsted inspection was in December 2023, when the school received an outcome 2 for its ungraded inspection. This means the school continues to be 'good' but might be outstanding if it was a graded inspection. The next inspection will be graded.

The Governing Body are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and skilled Site Manager, committed to maintaining and improving the school environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

This position will be based at our Wray Park site but as part of the wider facilities team, the appointed candidate will need to be able to work at either site.  The position is full-time, 36 hours per week for 52 weeks per year, worked over a split shift daily.

Our Site Manager plays an important role in supporting the education of our special needs pupils and will be resourceful, with a flexible and 'can-do' attitude. You will be part of the school team and able to relate well to pupils, staff and contractors alike.  The appointed candidate will:

- be responsible to the Leadership Team for a high level of maintenance of the buildings and site, including maintenance and operation of the swimming and hydro pools (certain technical and administration duties included)

- ensure the most cost effective use of the buildings and therefore contribute towards WMAT's objectives of achieving greater value for money. The principal elements of the role are set out below:

Site Maintenance

- Maintain the site in a good state of repair, cost effectively and ensuring that it is clean and tidy, to agreed standards

- Maintain the school swimming and hydro pools within recognised standards, ensuring safe and continuous access for pupils and external hirers

- Minimize risks to health and safety of those using the school site and ensure school activities can take place in an environment suited to learning

Security

- Manage and operate appropriate site security systems, including opening and closing at the beginning and end of the school day

- Respond to call-outs as necessary, including outside of normal working hours in order to provide satisfactory security arrangements

- Carry out regular monitoring of automatic security, fire alarm and emergency lighting systems

- Provide safe access to buildings and classrooms in the event of snow, minor floods and similar emergency situations

Portering

- Manage provision of a potering and furniture moving service to ensure supplies are in place and school activities can proceed

Monitoring

- Establish and maintain procedures to ensure that the school site is kept in a good state of repair, clean, safe and stocked with all necessary supplies

- Maintain monitoring procedures, ensuring safe and compliant chemical levels and temperatures in both pools

- Maintain monitoring procedures, adhering to all statutory compliance, including for PAT and Legionella testing

Cost Effectiveness

- Contribute to WMAT's objectives of achieving greater value for money in the maintenance of the buildings and site

- Attend WMAT Facilities Team briefings and required ongoing training for relevant operations

You will play a major role in giving our pupils the very best opportunities to achieve their potential. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the school to arrange a visit.

Applicants must hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.

Closing date: midday Tuesday 13th May 2025.

Interviews: TBC.

In addition to an interview, shortlisted candidates will undertake a practical task.
