Help Create Safe, Inspiring and Inclusive Learning Environments
At Brunel Academies Trust (BAT) and our charitable subsidiary Brunel Education (BE), we are passionate about transforming the lives of children and young people. As a truly inclusive and aspirational Trust, we place our pupils at the heart of everything we do, ensuring they have access to safe, high-quality learning environments where they can thrive.
We are seeking a proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused Facilities Technician to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining buildings and grounds, enjoys solving practical challenges, and understands the vital role excellent facilities play in supporting education.
Whether you're carrying out maintenance repairs, leading small improvement projects, managing contractors, supporting health and safety compliance, or ensuring our sites remain secure and welcoming, your work will directly contribute to the success and wellbeing of our pupils and staff.
About the Role
No two days are the same. As Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance and safety of our provision sites, ensuring they remain safe, compliant, clean and fit for purpose.
You will:
Lead on site maintenance, repairs and minor improvement projects.
Ensure buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
Take a proactive approach to health and safety, security and compliance.
Coordinate and supervise contractors and service providers.
Carry out regular inspections, risk assessments and statutory checks.
Manage maintenance records and utilise systems for logging and tracking works.
Support fleet management activities, including vehicle checks and servicing arrangements.
Undertake porterage duties and assist with provision events and seasonal activities.
Work closely with Headteachers, Heads of Provision, Central Teams and external partners to deliver outstanding service.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
✅ Has practical maintenance and DIY skills, including basic repairs and installations.
✅ Understands health and safety requirements and compliance responsibilities.
✅ Can confidently prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks.
✅ Has strong communication skills and can build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
✅ Is self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently using their own initiative.
✅ Is comfortable using IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
✅ Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
Experience within an educational environment is desirable but not essential. What matters most is your commitment, problem-solving ability and willingness to make a difference.
