The pupils, staff and governors of St Mark’s Primary School are looking to appoint a caretaker to join our friendly and dynamic team. St Mark’s is a large 436 place primary school. The school was inspected by Ofsted in January 2025 where they stated that we have maintained the previous standards judged ‘good’. We also received an ‘excellent’ status as a Church School (SIAMS 2022). In September 2016, St Mark’s became an academy school within the Bath and Wells Multi-Academy Trust.

The role:

As a caretaker, you will carry out a range of duties to contribute to the security, safety and maintenance of the school premises including the following:

Site security - unlocking and locking the school and setting alarms.

Maintenance & repairs - carrying out basic DIY tasks keeping the school safe and operational.

Health & safety – regular checks of fire alarms, emergency exits and playground equipment, ensuring compliance with regulations.

Cleaning & grounds – supporting the cleaning team, tidying outdoor areas, gritting paths in winter and making sure the school looks its best.

Event support – setting up for occasional school events taking place in the evenings.

What we are looking for:

• Someone hands-on, proactive and able to work independently.

• Good problem-solving skills and a practical mindset.

• An effective communicator

• A desire to create a safe and welcoming environment for children, staff and families

In return, we offer:

• A caring and innovative environment.

• A dedicated, hardworking, supportive and friendly staff team.

• Generous pension scheme, enhanced sickness and parental benefits.

Visits to the school are encouraged. If you would like to do this, please contact the school office to arrange a visit. Please also visit our school website to find out more about our school.
