Ready for life, now and in the future...

At St Michael’s we are proud to be part of the family of St Michael’s Church and of our Christian ethos and distinctiveness. As a Bath and Wells Academy – we Choose Life – Life in all its fullness John 10:10 and this underpins all that we do here at school. We believe that, with God’s help and working together we will enable each child to have fun, enjoy life and flourish here at school and beyond.

Experience in leading, managing and developing SEND provision is essential and knowledge of the Thrive approach to emotional regulation is desirable. You will know how to engage, challenge and nurture people. You will see the potential of the school, the staff and the pupils.

We are looking for a candidate who is:

· an outstanding practitioner with high expectations of pupil attainment, progress and behaviour

· committed to developing the full potential of all children within an environment where children feel safe, valued and happy

· able to liaise effectively with staff, parents, external agencies and other schools

· able to provide maximum support and ensure continuity of educational provision for pupils with SEND.

In return we can offer:

· a committed and friendly team aiming for excellence

· children who are enthusiastic, happy and eager to learn

· a supportive and encouraging Senior Leadership Team at School and Trust level

· a strong Christian ethos

· Platinum-award play offer with Outdoor Play and Learning

· consideration for job share/ part-time working to cover this important position

We serve families from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds, the majority of pupils are of White British heritage with a high proportion of pupils identified as disadvantaged and therefore eligible for pupil premium funding, Twerton is an area of very significant deprivation in relation to national indicators and has a significantly higher than average percentage of pupils with special education needs and/or disabilities.

It is also an exciting time for the local area, with £20 million Central Government investment in Twerton over the next ten years. We are also looking forward to a brand new school building being constructed in the next few years. Look at our Facebook page to see what daily life is like at our school.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS and all relevant pre-employment checks.

On-line security checks will be made for all applicants.

We warmly welcome potential applicants to visit the school. To arrange a visit or a conversation about this role in more detail please contact the Head of School, Rebecca Mellor or the Executive Headteacher, George Samios by contacting the school directly.
