Your opportunity to play a vital role in public safety and community wellbeing:

We are seeking qualified lifeguards, or individuals willing to complete a lifeguard course at Tewkesbury Academy during the February Half-Term. We are particularly looking for candidates who are able to work from 3.30pm on a couple of weekdays, with the opportunity to pick up additional weekend shifts.

This is a casual role with no set hours, offering flexibility based on facility needs and candidate availability.

This is an opportunity to be part of a dedicated and supportive team that takes pride in maintaining high standards across every aspect of the pool environment.

In this role, you’ll help create a safe, clean, and welcoming space for all pool users, from students and staff to community groups and swimming clubs. Your vigilance and proactive approach will contribute directly to preventing incidents, promoting positive behaviour, and ensuring that every visitor has a safe and enjoyable experience.

You will work closely with colleagues to monitor pool activity, maintain equipment, support facility setup and pack‑down, and uphold hygiene and safety procedures. As a visible and approachable presence on poolside, you’ll also offer friendly guidance and reassurance to users, helping to make Tewkesbury Academy’s swimming facilities a trusted and enjoyable place for all.

About you:

You will have:

  • a current NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) is essential
  • a strong awareness of safety procedures and the ability to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain alert while supervising pool users.
  • a team-oriented approach, with the flexibility to work shifts including evenings and weekends.
  • a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility.
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and approachable manner when engaging with the public.
